A three round, balls-to-the-wall middle distance series across North Brisbane, back for its fifth year.
Welcome to the inaugural Bush Turkey Classic, a three round, balls-to-the-wall, short course running race series on some iconic tracks in the Bramble Bay region. As permission from local council or any other organisation will not be sought, numbers are limited to those willing to have a red hot crack!
Scoring
Points are awarded for the three rounds in the cross country format, lowest score wins. The number of points awarded per round corresponds to finishing position in each athlete’s gender category, up to a maximum of five points. Athletes who DNS/DNF are awarded six points for the round. Points are accumulated across the three rounds and final results for the series are announced at the conclusion of Round Three.
Race a celebrity
- Round One: local running star Stephen Butcher. Don’t miss out on racing a celebrity!
- Round Two: 2019 Maidenwell Beer Mile Champion and 2021 runner up sexiest man in Sandgate, James Laird.
- Round Three: Sandgate’s most improved athlete of 2021 and Moreton Bay Road Runners award winner. All eyes are on Liam McCarthy, 4017’s next up and coming running maverick, who doesn’t mind placing a coffee order during his warm down jog. Liam is also race favourite in Round Three.

Boondall Wetlands

A one lap, 1.8km balls-to-the-wall clockwise loop of the Boondall Wetlands. Rock up at 5:30 AM for a warm up and stretch.
Round 2
Dowse Lagoon
Saturday 20 November 2021 · 6:00 AM
A one lap, mile distance counter-clockwise loop of Dowse Lagoon. Men's race at 6:00 AM and women's at 6:15 AM, so babysitters not required.
Round 3
Deagon Speedway
Friday 14 January 2022 · 6:00 AM
The infamous Deagon Speedway, a 1 kilometre stretch of Racecourse Road, Deagon. Rock up at 5:30 AM for a warm up and stretch.
